2nd Annual Breast Cancer Symposium: Learning Objectives

Half day course consisting of didactic sessions on current approaches to the evaluation and management of patients with Breast Cancer. The topics covered mirror the practical issues encountered in everyday clinical practice.

Targeted Audience

This conference targets licensed health care providers and educators from a variety of settings with interest in improving knowledgte, skills, and practice in the area of breast cancer

Learning Objectives

 Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: 


  • Determine patient’s candidacy for current clinical breast trials.

  • Realize clinical breast trials and know where to direct patients for enrollment.

  • Distinguish between benign vs. malignant masses in the male breast.

  • Appreciate the advantages of radioactive seed placement over traditional wire localization to the patient, surgeon, radiologist and hospital.

  • Recognize the role of the Radiologist and Surgeon when a radioactive seed is placed for localization of a non-palpable breast mass.

  • Navigate the breast cancer patient.

  • Stage a breast cancer patient.

  • Appreciate survivorship, what it means and how we follow breast cancer patients.

  • Understand the connection between BRCA1 mutations and Triple Negative Breast Cancers.

  • Comprehend the gynecologic guidelines and recommendations for the BRCA patient.

  • Identify the surgical approach and folloow-up for the BRCA patient.

  • Identify patients who would benefit from Oncoplastic Technique in Breast Reconstruction.

  • Discuss TARGIT Trial Data.

  • Identify patients eligible for US Intraoperative Registry Trial (TARGIT-US).

  • Understand current evidence regarding genetic testing in individuals with Triple Negative Breast Cancers.

  • Recognize points of quality of life concerns along the breast cancer care continuum. 

  • Distinquish between candidacy for palliative care or hospice care referral.

  • Diminsh liability risk through appropriate documentations.

  • Establish appropriate practice processes to enhance patient outcomes and reduce errors.
