The mission of Vassar Brothers Continuing Medical Education is to assist physicians, and other health care professionals in the interpretation, dissemination, and application of evidence-based knowledge to improve patient safety and enhance clinical outcomes for both patients and the overall health of the community. The goal is to provide information that will develop, maintain, and increase the knowledge, skill level, professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession, where a need is identified. Vassar Brothers CME will support the continuous improvement of the high quality healthcare provided by Vassar Brothers Medical Center and the Hudson Valley Healthcare Community.
To further the opportunity for quality education in this region, Vassar Brothers Continuing Medical Education will jointly provide educational activities with other health care organizations if the activities are consistent in content and method with the stated mission.
CME - Vassar Brothers Medical Center is accredited by The Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

These policies include resolving all conflicts of interest between faculty and commercial interests that might otherwise compromise the goal and educational integrity of this activity. All faculty members participating in this activity have disclosed all significant relationships — financial or otherwise — with the manufacturers or providers of products or services mentioned in the activity. The planners of this activity have reviewed these disclosures and have determined that the faculty relationships are not inappropriate in the context of their respective presentations and are consistent with the educational goals and integrity of the activity.

Pharmacists - Are Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits from courses approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) acceptable toward my continuing education requirement as a pharmacist?: Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses relevant to the professional practice of pharmacy, such as courses in the pharmacology of new drugs, are acceptable; courses not related to pharmacy practice (e.g., surgery) are not acceptable. The CME certificate issued for completing an AMA program would serve as proof for recordkeeping purposes. We suggest that you also keep a copy of the program outline and objectives as documentation that the course was relevant pharmacy practice.
Physicians and Allied Health Professionals associated with Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York receive statements of CME programs attended annually, at no cost. The credits are compiled and statements issued annually as described above or as needed for credentialing or other purposes. For further information about this service, please email Michelle Palumbo
